However, t h e f i n a l c l a u s e of t h e Conventionprovided t h a t t h e t e x t of t h e Convention, drawn up i n E n g l i s h , Spanish and Frencha l l e q u a l l y a u t h e n t i c - would be opened f o r s i g n a t u r e . I n t h i s r e s p e c t t h e ThirdSession of t h e Assembly, i n June 1949, adopted a R e s o l u t i o n (A3-2) r e q u e s t i n g t h eCouncil t o u n d e r t a k e t h e n e c e s s a r y measures t o e n s u r e t h a t t h e t e x t s of t h eConvention on i n t e r n a t i o n a l C i v i l A v i a t i o n (Chicago, 1944) i n t h e Spanish andFrench languages a r e used w i t h i n t h e O r g a n i z a t i o n .I n compliance w i t h t h e above-mentioned R e s o l u t i o n t h e C o u n c i l , i nFebruary 1952, approved t h e S p a n i s h and French t e x t s of t h e Convention, which wereused s o l e l y f o r t h e i n t e r n a l p u r p o s e s of t h e O r g a n i z a t i o n .L a t e r , i n September 1962, t h e Assembly r e q u e s t e d t h e Council t ostudy t h e q u e s t i o n of drawing up a t r i l i n g u a l t e x t of t h e Convention. This workwas completed i n 1968 a t t h e I n t e r n a t i o n a l Conference of P l e n i p o t e n t i a r yR e p r e s e n t a t i v e s h e l d i n Buenos A i r e s from 9 t o 24 September.The Conference adopted a P r o t o c o l on t h e a u t h e n t i c t r i l i n g u a l t e x tof t h e Convention on I n t e r n a t i o n a l C i v i l A v i a t i o n (Chicago, 1944) which was openedf o r s i g n a t u r e on 24 September and came i n t o f o r c e on 24 October 1968.
